"Dia de los Muertos" also known as "Day of the Dead" is a Mexican holiday that honors those who have died based on the belief that death is not the end of everything. The Phoenix in our Design is used to symbolize just that very idea because of the idea that the Phoenix rises from its ashes after death.
We also want to incorporate a skit that uses characters dressed in attire in accordance with the concept of "Dia de los Muertos." Our design includes potential costumes for the crew members.
We hope to not only have fun with our project but also entertain and educate people simultaneously about hispanic culture. Our organization is highly supportive of hispanic culture. Considering our team is comprised of executive officers and members from a university organization (CSULB Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers), we know that we have the support and energy to put together an amazing project. We want to be able to represent the community here at CSULB considering this event will be held in our own hometown.
In the past our organization (CSULB SHPE) has participated in a Flugtag event. We hope to come back and represent the community to bring it all home. We will rise from the ashes as the Phoenix does and reach glory!
