Since 1967, our ship has been docked along the Long Beach shoreline, calling the LBC home. With Red Bull coming to town for the epic contest of flight (or lack there of), intelligence (or lack there of), grit and determination, it’s time to represent the city of Long Beach and see if this ship can fly.
This August marks the 75th anniversary of The Queen Mary’s service in World War II, where the legendary cruise liner became a troop transport for the Allied Powers known as the Gray Ghost. For six years, she transported more than 800,000 people over 600,000 miles during its war service, so we think we can easily transport just 1 person 230 feet and set a new Flugtag record. Attached to the ship is a WWII fighter jet, honoring all of our military, past and present and creating an aero-dynamic, flying and floating ship/plane, AKA the shiplane. Our pilot will be a former British SAS who served in Angola, while our crew is just a bunch of American SASes. (please re-arrange the letters here Red Bull fans)
